supernova 300x213 2000 Year Old Stellar Mystery Supernova, Finally Revealed!

Orion constellation will undergo supernova

“Supernova remnant got really big, really fast. It’s two to three times bigger than we would expect for a supernova that was witnessed exploding nearly 2,000 years ago. Now, we’ve been able to finally pinpoint the cause,” said Brian Williams, Astronomer at North Carolina State University in Raleigh.

Recent updates on a mystery that began almost 2,000 years ago, two NASA space telescope have helped find answers to some of the mysteries that Chinese astronomers witnessed what would turn out to be an exploding star in the sky. New development unfolds as NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope and Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer, or WISE, explained how the first supernova ever recorded happened and how it exploded remains spread out to great distances.

In addition, for the first time, these new observations also show that a white dwarf can create a cavity around it before blowing up in type la event. When the big explosion happened, the blown out parts would have travelled unimpeded by gas and dust.

“A large majority of those who have not paid directly for news on their tablet remain reluctant to do so, even if that was the only way to get news from their favourite sources. When it was launched, many observers believed that the tablet might help change the experience of news consumers and the economic ground rules of digital news consumption. That belief was based on the sense that people would consume information on tablets largely through special applications or apps that provide content from a favourite news organization,” this according to the new survey conducted by the Pew Research Centre’s Project for Excellence in Journalism.

The new survey shows that almost 80% of tablet users never forget to use their tablets on a daily basis for 90 minutes or so. Users maximize the uses of the tablet within that 90-minute opportunity. Email activities are the number one tablet-based task, followed by games, social networking, watching movies, and reading books.

Old Koran manuscript

“This opens up a window for people who study the history of ideas and the history of secret societies. Historians believe that secret societies have had a role in revolutions, but all that is yet to be worked out, and a big part of the reason is because so many documents are enciphered,” said Kevin Knight, Computer Scientist, University of Southern California’s Information Sciences Institute.

A group of scientist headed by Knight have discovered ways on how to decode an old Copiale Cipher by Germany; it is a 105 page and 75,000 characters. Knight and his colleagues used innovative machine translation software to reveal the code used by the secret society three centuries ago. Not only, it reveals the amazing history of such societies, it also contributed to yet another great discovery on the field of cryptographic process.

Knight also said, “When you get a new code and look at it, the possibilities are nearly infinite. Once you come up with a hypothesis bases on your intuition as a human, you can turn over a lot of grunt work to the computer. It took quite a long time and resulted in complete failure.”

A cup of coffee

“Given the nearly 1 million new cases of (basal cell carcinoma diagnosed each year in the United States, daily dietary factors with even small protective effects may have great public health impact. It is likely that caffeine has a protective effect. BBC risk was inversely associated with caffeine,” said Fengju Song, PhD, Co-author of the study, Postdoctoral fellow in Dermatology, Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

According to a new research, drinking more than three cups of coffee a day can lower the risk of developing basal cell carcinoma (BCC) compared to women who drank less than one cup a month. The research also shows that men, who drink more than three cups of coffee on a daily basis, had a 9 percent reduction in their risk of getting basal carcinoma.

Song also said, “Mouse studies have shown that oral or topical caffeine promotes elimination of UV-damaged keratinobytes via apoptosis and markedly reduces subsequent SCC development. However, in our cohort analysis, we did not find any inverse association between coffee consumption and the risk of SCC.”
