New Russian Fires Kill 4 And Leave Almost 1,000 Homeless
At least four have died and hundreds are without homes as the latest fires spread across central Russia.
The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry have said the fires were caused by high winds which caused electricity transmission lines to cross and spark fires.
According to authorities 18 people have been reported injured and almost 1,000 have been moved to temporary housing. The fires have affected 20 villages in the Volgograd and Saratov Region.
2,500 firefighters and rescue workers are attempting to contain the new fires. Strong winds are still a problem and there is a concern the fires could spread to neighboring regions.
Vladimir Putin, the Russian Prime Minister, has already allocated about $33 million to compensate those who have lost property or homes due to fires in the affected regions.
The new outbreak comes just days after the announcement by Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu that the August fires had been put out. The August fires killed more than 50 people and left thousands homeless.
